Gabriela Španić, born Gabriela Elena Španić Utrera on December 10, 1973, also known as Gaby Spanic, is a celebrated Venezuelan actress recognized for her impactful performances in telenovelas. She shares a twin sister, Daniela Spanic, who is also a model and actress. Gabriela has a younger sister named Patricia, and two brothers, Antonio and Adiel. Her extensive body of work includes well-known telenovelas such as "La Usurpadora," "Por Tu Amor," "La Intrusa," "Tierra de Pasiones," and "Soy Tu Dueña." Notably, she is the only actress to have portrayed twin characters on multiple occasions. Currently, she is captivating audiences on TV Azteca's "Emperatriz," taking on the titular role in a reimagining of the Venezuelan version, a character she aspired to play since her teenage years.

Gabriela's father, of Croatian descent, relocated to Venezuela with his parents in 1960. Her mother, a native Venezuelan, received her education in Los Angeles. Gabriela's career path began in the 1992 Miss Venezuela pageant, where she represented Guarico. Although she initially pursued university studies in psychology, her passion for acting remained a driving force. Her career gained significant momentum in the mid-1990s with leading roles in Venezuelan soap operas. Gabriela starred in numerous productions, often as the protagonist, with her role in "Trama" contributing to her recognition as a national heroine in Venezuela in 1997. That same year, a prominent American media outlet featured her in a unique photoshoot for Cosmopolitan magazine. In 1998, Gabriela was offered a pivotal role in the telenovela "La Usurpadora," a character originally considered for Thalia. Her audition secured her the part of Paola and Paulina, leading to a global phenomenon as the telenovela aired in over 120 countries.
