Ice Spice — Biography

Isis Gaston, professionally performing as Ice Spice, was born on January 1, 2000, and has established herself as a notable American rapper. Her breakthrough came through the viral success of tracks including "Munch (Feelin' U)" and "Bikini Bottom".

The Bronx native grew up in the Fordham Road neighborhood and was the eldest among five children. Her father, an African American who worked as an underground rapper, and her Dominican mother, who was seventeen when she gave birth, met at a McDonald's before divorcing when Gaston was two. With both parents occupied by work responsibilities, Gaston spent considerable time during her childhood with her grandparents and extended family. She attended Bronx schools before transferring to a Catholic institution in Yonkers for high school. Hip hop captured her interest at age seven following exposure to artists like Lil' Kim, inspiring her to compose poetry and freestyle verses throughout her educational years.

Gaston commenced her professional rap career in 2021 after connecting with producer RiotUSA at SUNY Purchase, which she later left without completing her degree. RiotUSA produced her initial release, "Bully", which arrived in March 2021 following the viral spread of Ice Spice executing the "Buss It" challenge on Twitter. The track "Name of Love" gained momentum on SoundCloud and subsequently boosted her Instagram presence.

Released in August 2022 with RiotUSA production, "Munch (Feelin' U)" achieved popularity when Drake championed it on his Sirius XM program Sound 42. The song subsequently trended across Twitter and TikTok while appearing on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Bubbling Under Hot 100 listings. September 2022 brought a featured appearance on B-Lovee's "One Time", followed by a record contract with 10K Projects and Capitol Records that same month. She released "Bikini Bottom" on October 28.

By April 2025, Ice Spice had accumulated 11.4 million Instagram followers, 13.0 million TikTok followers, and 2.9 million YouTube subscribers. She appeared in a Dunkin' advertisement alongside Ben Affleck in September 2023.
