Ivet Lalova-Collio — Biography
Ivet Miroslavova Lalova-Collio, born on May 18, 1984, in Sofia, is a prominent Bulgarian track and field competitor renowned for her prowess in the 100 and 200-meter sprints. Her speed places her among the elite, ranking as the 13th fastest woman ever in the 100-meter dash. At the 2004 Athens Olympics, Lalova-Collio achieved a fourth-place finish in the 100 meters and a fifth-place finish in the 200 meters. A significant setback, a leg injury sustained in an on-track accident, sidelined her for two years, from June 2005 to May 2007. Despite this interruption, she demonstrated her enduring talent by securing the gold medal in the 100 meters at the 2012 European Athletics Championships. Further success came in July 2016 at the European Championships, where she claimed two silver medals, one each in the 100-meter and 200-meter races. Lalova-Collio has a distinguished Olympic record, having competed in five Olympic Games throughout her career.
