Jennifer Jackson — Biography

In 1964, a young Jennifer Jackson, just eighteen years old and pursuing her college studies in America, sought clerical employment at the Chicago offices of Playboy. Her life took an unexpected turn when she was selected to grace the pages of Playboy magazine as the Playmate of the Month for its March 1965 edition. This marked a significant moment, as Jackson became the first Black woman to hold the distinction of being a Playboy Bunny and to be featured as a centerfold within the publication. Reflecting on her experience and Hugh Hefner's involvement in her now-historic photoshoot, Jackson described him with a memorable analogy: "Hef was kind of like a pimp, a high-class pimp.”
