À propos de Katey Sagal
Katey Sagal is an American actress, singer, and writer celebrated for her performances in "Futurama," "8 Simple Rules," "Married... with Children," and "Sons of Anarchy." Born in Hollywood, California, she hails from a family steeped in the entertainment industry; her father, Boris Sagal, was a director known for his work on 1960s TV dramas, particularly "The Twilight Zone." Her mother, Sara Zwilling, worked as a producer. Katey has two younger sisters, twin actresses Jean and Liz Sagal, who gained fame as the Doublemint Twins in the early 1980s and starred in the short-lived sitcom "Double Trouble." She also has a brother, actor Joe Sagal. The Sagal siblings were raised in Mandeville Canyon in Brentwood, California.
Katey began her show business journey in Hollywood, appearing in various television films from 1971 to 1975, including a minor role as a receptionist in the Columbo film "Candidate for Crime," directed by her father. During this period, she also worked as a backup vocalist for well-known artists such as Bob Dylan, Gene Simmons, and Tanya Tucker, and was part of a lesser-known rock group called The Group With No Name. Her big break came when Bette Midler recruited her for a 1979 tour as one of the Harlettes, her backup singers.
In 1985, Sagal returned to television in the unsuccessful series "Mary," starring Mary Tyler Moore. This led to her iconic role as Peg Bundy on the hit sitcom "Married... with Children," where she played the discontented, sex-driven spouse of a shoe salesman, alongside Amanda Bearse and Christina Applegate. For the ten years the show aired, her career primarily revolved around this role, though she took part in various television movies as well. Sagal later reprised her role as Peg in a "Futurama" episode called "A Bicyclops Built for Two."
Following the conclusion of "Married... with Children," Sagal continued to act in more television films and lent her voice to characters on children's shows like "Recess." In 1999, she was cast as Turanga Leela, the one-eyed mutant spaceship pilot, in Matt Groening's animated series "Futurama," which gained a devoted fanbase but was cancelled four years later. The series was revived in 2006, and Sagal expressed her intent to return for the new season in 2008. She also appeared as Edna Hyde, the mother of Steven Hyde, in three episodes of "That '70s Show" and led the short-lived NBC sitcom "Tucker" in 2000.
In 2002, Sagal was cast opposite John Ritter in "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter." Following Ritter's untimely death in 2003, she faced the challenge
