Laetitia Casta — Biography

Laetitia Marie Laure Casta came into the world on May 11, 1978, in Pont-Audemer, Normandy, France, though she spent her formative years in Corsica. Her heritage blends French and Corsican influences through her parents Dominique, who was Corsican, and Line, who hailed from Normandy, with deeper Italian and Norman ancestry in her lineage. She grew up alongside an older brother and a younger sister, completing her secondary education in France with an emphasis on academics prior to pursuing modeling. At age fifteen during a 1993 vacation in Corsica, she caught the attention of a Madison Models representative while creating sand sculptures at the beach. Despite initial reservations, she accepted representation and appeared in a Guess advertisement before relocating to Paris at sixteen to establish her professional modeling presence. Throughout the nineties, fashion publications bestowed upon her the title of "The French Muse" due to her timeless aesthetics and distinctly Gallic appeal. Her professional trajectory accelerated considerably during this decade, positioning her among the world's most sought-after models. Working through prominent agencies including The Society Management in New York and Viva Model Management across Paris and London, she graced runways for prestigious houses including Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, and Jean Paul Gaultier, earning particular recognition as a muse of Saint Laurent himself. Between 1998 and 2000, she represented Victoria's Secret, participating in their presentations and promotional materials. Her editorial presence encompasses more than twenty Vogue editions spanning France, Italy, the UK, and Brazil, as well as features in Harper's Bazaar, Elle, and multiple Sports Illustrated Swimsuit editions from 1998 through 2000. Brand collaborations with Guess, L'Oréal Paris, Chanel, and Dolce & Gabbana, combined with her 1999 portrayal of Marianne of France, solidified her cultural significance. Her acting portfolio includes films such as Asterix & Obelix Take On Caesar from 1999, Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life in 2010 where she embodied Brigitte Bardot, and The Ideal Palace in 2018. Television appearances include the miniseries Luisa Sanfelice in 2004 and participation in French programming. She has also performed in theatrical productions including Ondine and directed the short film En moi, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016. Her involvement with the Cannes Film Festival and her work as a UNESCO ambassador have amplified her prominence beyond fashion. Standing at five feet seven inches with measurements of 35-24-35
