Lauren Opal Boebert, born Lauren Roberts, is a conservative political figure, business owner, and advocate for gun rights who has represented Colorado's 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House since 2021. She operated Shooters Grill, a dining establishment in Colorado, between 2013 and 2022. As a Republican Party member, she has built her political identity around promoting Second Amendment rights. During the 2020 House elections in Colorado, she defeated sitting representative Scott Tipton during the primary contest and subsequently prevailed in the general election against Democrat Diane Mitsch Bush, who had previously served in the state legislature. Within Congress, Boebert has aligned herself with conservative Republican organizations including the Republican Study Committee, the Freedom Caucus, where she took on the communications director position in January 2022, and the Second Amendment Caucus, which focuses on gun ownership protections. Her 2022 reelection proved competitive, with her securing victory by just 546 votes over Adam Frisch, an ex-member of the Aspen City Council.
