Momo Hirai — Biography
Momo Hirai, known simply as Momo, is a Japanese singer and dancer who currently resides in South Korea. She made her debut in 2015 as part of the South Korean girl group Twice, which was formed under JYP Entertainment. In 2018, she was recognized in Gallup Korea's annual music poll, where she secured the position of the 20th most popular idol in South Korea. Momo has gained a reputation as one of the most prominent non-Korean stars in the K-pop scene. Celebrated for her impressive physical fitness and dynamic dance moves, she has earned the nickname "dance machine." She feels particularly confident performing urban dance styles and enjoys hip hop as well. Passionate about food, she has also been affectionately dubbed the "eating machine." Momo, along with fellow Japanese member Minatozaki Sana, joined JYP Entertainment as a trainee. Notably, she was the only contestant from the survival show Sixteen to be eliminated and later brought back to debut as part of Twice. As of October 2023, Momo has garnered 15.4 million followers on Instagram. In Twice, she performs alongside Im Na-yeon, Jeongyeon, Sana, Park Ji-hyo, Kim Da-Hyun, Mina Myoi, Chaeyoung, and Chou Tzu-yu.
