Born on April 8, 1966, Robin Gayle Wright is an accomplished American actress. Her career has been recognized with numerous honors, including a Golden Globe Award and a remarkable eight nominations for Primetime Emmy Awards. Wright first captured the public's eye with her portrayal of Kelly Capwell on the NBC daytime drama Santa Barbara, a role she held from 1984 to 1988. She then made her mark in cinema with a leading part in the beloved fantasy film The Princess Bride in 1987. Her performance in the massively successful drama Forrest Gump in 1994 earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Wright continued to lead in significant films such as the romantic drama Message in a Bottle (1999) and the gripping thriller Unbreakable (2000). Her work in independent cinema was also celebrated, with acclaimed roles in Loved (1997), She's So Lovely (1997), Nine Lives (2005), and Sorry, Haters (2006). More recently, she has taken on notable supporting characters in films like Moneyball (2011), The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011), Everest (2015), Wonder Woman (2017), and Blade Runner 2049 (2017). On the small screen, Wright starred in the HBO miniseries Empire Falls in 2005. From 2013 to 2018, she captivated audiences as Claire Underwood in the Netflix political series House of Cards. This role brought her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and six Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress. In 2016, Wright was recognized as one of the nation's highest-paid actresses, earning $420,000 per episode for her work on House of Cards. Beyond her acting, she also ventured into directing, helming ten episodes of House of Cards and two episodes of the Netflix crime drama Ozark in 2022. Dylan Penn is her daughter.
