Encouraged by her mother, Sally Todd's journey into entertainment commenced in 1952 with participation in a local beauty pageant held in Tucson. Her theatrical education also took place in her hometown of Tucson. By 1954, Todd had relocated to California, where she embarked on a career as a fashion model. Her image graced the pages of Playboy as the Playmate of the Month for February 1957. She also lent her likeness to other men's publications, including Focus, Brief, Bachelor, and Sir Knight. A talent scout from 20th Century Fox eventually noticed Todd. This led to her appearing in a select number of engaging, modest-budget films often shown at drive-in theaters, such as The Unearthly and Frankenstein's Daughter. In 1961, Todd exchanged vows with singer Charles Cochran; however, their union was brief. Subsequently, on June 8, 1963, Todd married John W. James in Las Vegas, Nevada, a marriage that also concluded in divorce. Todd later established a residence in Big Sur, California, where she operated an antique store. Her passing occurred in November 2022.
