Nguyễn Thị Thiên Thanh, who is widely recognized as Tila Tequila, is an American figure known for her work in television and on social media. She has been known by several other names, including Tila Nguyen, Miss Tila, and Tornado Thien. Tequila first emerged as a prominent figure through her dynamic engagement on social networking platforms. She became the leading personality on Myspace, which led to her landing a reality TV series. Her dating show, A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila, aired on MTV in 2007 for two seasons and was notable for being the network's second-highest-rated series premiere of that year, emphasizing a theme of bisexuality.

Born in Singapore and later raised in Houston, Texas, Tequila moved to Los Angeles in 2001 to pursue modeling. Her work has graced several men’s magazines such as Playboy, Stuff, and Maxim. She made her reality television debut with VH1’s Surviving Nugent in 2003. In addition to modeling and television, Tequila ventured into music. Initially, she was the lead vocalist for two bands, Beyond Betty Jean and Jealousy, before embarking on a solo music career. Her first single, "I Love U," was released in 2007 and received mixed reviews, achieving strong online sales yet failing to chart. She then released more independent singles like "Stripper Friends" and "Paralyze." In 2010, her second EP, Welcome to the Dark Side, was released. Tila Tequila's notoriety took a darker turn after she made remarks supporting Adolf Hitler and expressed antisemitic sentiments, which led to her expulsion from Celebrity Big Brother. By late 2007, she was romantically linked to Bobby Banhart, the winner of A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila. However, in January 2008, Tequila announced their split, only for Banhart to later claim via Myspace that he had never been in a relationship with her and had difficulty getting in touch with her after the show. Tequila later identified as a lesbian rather than bisexual and asserted that she had wished to choose the runner-up, Dani Campbell, instead of Banhart, due to producers' influence.

On March 7, 2012, it was reported that Tequila had agreed to enter rehab following a suicide attempt involving an overdose of pills. This incident resulted in her hospitalization due to a brain aneurysm, and she completed her rehabilitation by April 5, 2012. Tequila has also voiced her belief in a flat Earth theory.
