Born Vicki Ree Principal on January 3, 1950, Victoria Principal is an American actress, businesswoman, and writer recognized primarily for her portrayal of Pamela Barnes Ewing in the hit American television soap opera Dallas. She remained with the series for nine years before her departure in 1987. Following her time on the show, she established Victoria Principal Productions, a company dedicated to creating television movies. During the mid-1980s, Principal developed a passion for natural beauty and wellness approaches, leading her to launch a skincare brand bearing her name, Principal Secret, in 1989. Principal achieved considerable success as an author, publishing three wellness and self-care books spanning topics including physical fitness, beauty regimens, nutrition, and overall health: The Body Principal released in 1983, The Beauty Principal in 1984, and The Diet Principal in 1987. She continued her writing career into the 2000s with Living Principal, published in 2001. The Body Principal spent twelve weeks atop The New York Times Best Seller list in the general nonfiction category and became the inaugural number-one bestseller in the "Advice, How-To, and Miscellaneous" category when the list launched on January 1, 1984. By 2018, Principal was working on a fifth book that remained unnamed at that time. As of July 2024, she maintains a substantial social media presence with 174,000 followers on Instagram.
