Aubrey Christina Plaza is a multifaceted American actress, comedian, and producer. She began her journey in performance through improv and sketch comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. After earning her degree from New York University Tisch School of the Arts, Plaza made her film debut in Mystery Team in 2009. She became widely known for her portrayal of April Ludgate on the NBC political satire sitcom Parks and Recreation, which aired from 2009 to 2015. In the film industry, she took on a supporting role in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World in 2010 and starred in the lead role of Safety Not Guaranteed in 2012. From 2017 to 2019, Plaza captured critical acclaim for her performances as the Shadow King and Lenny Busker in the FX superhero series Legion. During this time, she also produced and starred in the black comedies The Little Hours and Ingrid Goes West, both released in 2017. Plaza went on to feature in the romantic comedy Happiest Season and the thriller Black Bear, both released in 2020. In 2022, she not only produced but also took on the title role in the crime film Emily the Criminal. Her portrayal of a no-nonsense lawyer in the second season of HBO's anthology series The White Lotus earned her nominations for a Primetime Emmy and a Golden Globe Award. In 2023, Time magazine recognized her as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Looking ahead to 2024, she will star in Megalopolis and My Old Ass, and she will portray Rio Vidal/Death in the Marvel Cinematic Universe miniseries Agatha All Along. Plaza has a diverse heritage, being of Basque, Irish, Puerto Rican, and Taíno descent.
