Carla Gugino — Biography

Carla Gugino was born in Sarasota, Florida, to orthodontist Carl Gugino. She has Italian roots from her father and English-Irish heritage from her mother. When Carla was just five, she and her mother relocated to Paradise, California, and they frequently moved around the state during her upbringing. Despite the changes, she excelled academically, maintaining straight A's throughout high school and ultimately graduating as the valedictorian of her class. At 15, a prominent modeling agency spotted Carla in San Diego, leading her to New York City to launch her career. However, the fast pace of New York proved challenging for her at such a young age, prompting her to return to Los Angeles in the summer, where she began modeling and took an acting class on the advice of her aunt, Carol Merrill, who gained fame from Let's Make a Deal (1963). In her spare time, Carla enjoys practicing yoga, traveling, and socializing with friends in Los Angeles. By January 2026, she had garnered 881,000 followers on Instagram.
