Claudia Wells — Biography
Born on July 5, 1966, Claudia Grace Wells is an American performer who holds the distinction of being the original actress to portray Jennifer Parker in the iconic Back to the Future cinematic saga. Her formative years were shaped by a global upbringing, commencing in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, before relocating to Punto Fijo, Venezuela, where she spent her early childhood. San Francisco, California, became her home during her adolescence, and she completed her high school education there. After gaining experience in television productions, Wells stepped into the role of Jennifer Parker, the girlfriend of Marty McFly, in the 1985 blockbuster Back to the Future. Tragically, the filming of this movie coincided with her mother's cancer diagnosis, a situation that prevented Wells from continuing in the role for the subsequent two installments of the series, with Elisabeth Shue taking over the character. In that same year, 1985, Wells also participated in Stop the Madness, a public service music video aimed at combating drug use, an initiative supported by the Reagan administration and featuring a roster of notable musicians, actors, and athletes. The subsequent year saw her appear in the television film Babies Having Babies and the short-lived series Fast Times, a television adaptation of the well-known 1982 movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High, where she played Linda Barrett, a role originated by Phoebe Cates. Following her time on Fast Times, Wells took a hiatus from screen appearances until the 1996 independent film Still Waters Burn, which later saw a DVD release in 2008. A significant moment for fans arrived in 2011, when Wells revisited her beloved character, 26 years after her initial portrayal. She lent her voice to Jennifer Parker for the video game Back to the Future: The Game, developed by Telltale Games. Beyond her acting career, Wells established a highly successful men's clothing boutique named Armani Wells in 1991, a business she continues to oversee as of 2020.
