Elizabeth Banks is an accomplished American actress and filmmaker, widely recognized for her portrayal of Effie Trinket in the film adaptations of The Hunger Games from 2012 to 2015, as well as her role as Gail Abernathy-McKadden in the Pitch Perfect series, which spanned from 2012 to 2017. She made her debut as a director with Pitch Perfect 2 in 2015, which notably achieved a record-breaking $69 million in its opening weekend—a remarkable feat for a first-time director. Following this success, she directed, wrote, produced, and starred in the action comedy Charlie's Angels, released in 2019. Additionally, Banks directed and produced the horror comedy Cocaine Bear, which premiered in 2023. In October 2002, she co-founded a production company named Brownstone Productions with her husband, Max Handelman.

Banks’ cinematic journey began in 1998 with a role in the independent film Surrender Dorothy.
