Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton, born Rodham, is an American figure known for her extensive career in politics and international relations. She held the esteemed position of the 67th United States secretary of state under President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2013. Prior to that, she represented New York in the U.S. Senate for two terms, serving from 2001 to 2009. Before her time in the Senate, she was the First Lady of the United States during her husband Bill Clinton's presidency, from 1993 to 2001.

A prominent member of the Democratic Party, Hillary Clinton made history as the party's presidential nominee in 2016. This landmark achievement marked her as the first woman to secure a presidential nomination from a major U.S. political party and the first woman to win the national popular vote for the presidency. Hillary Clinton is the mother of writer Chelsea Clinton.
