Hiromi Oshima is a Japanese glamour model who rose to prominence in the adult entertainment industry. She achieved the distinction of becoming the second Japanese-born Playboy Playmate when she was selected in June 2004. Her path to this achievement began when she was living and working in Playa del Carmen, Mexico before making plans to relocate to Miami Beach. Through a personal connection, she encountered renowned Playboy photographer Jarmo Pohjaniemi, which set her career in motion. In interviews, Oshima noted that pursuing a modeling career in her home country would have been impossible due to her physical appearance, specifically stating she would have been deemed too curvaceous for the Japanese market. Following her initial discovery, she was invited to California for a preliminary photo session as part of the search for The 50th Anniversary Playmate Hunt, which was featured in the December 2003 issue of Playboy magazine. Her early career included appearances in Nelly's music video for "Shake Ya Tailfeather" and multiple episodes of the E! network's reality series The Girls Next Door. Her modeling portfolio expanded to include the cover of the 2003 Playboy Special Editions Exotic Beauties issue and numerous Playboy video projects. She served as the January cover model for the 2005 Playmates at Play swimsuit calendar, which was shot at the Playboy Mansion and marked the publication's inaugural swimsuit calendar featuring only bikini-clad models. Alongside Karen McDougal, Oshima was one of only two models who wore painted-on bikinis in the calendar. Her career extended into acting and entertainment, with roles in The House Bunny in 2008, Race to Witch Mountain in 2009, appearances in the television series Community, and featured roles in films including Dealin' With Idiots in 2013 and The Wedding Ringer in 2015. She also appeared in Beyonce Knowles and Lady Gaga's "Telephone" music video. In 2011, she was featured in Virgin America's advertising campaign, and in 2017 she appeared in MGMT's "Little Dark Age" music video. As of December 2024, Oshima is in a relationship with New Zealand-based singer-songwriter Connan Mockasin, with whom she shares a daughter.
