Born on 2 March 1989 in Southend-on-Sea, Nathalie Joanne Emmanuel is a British actress recognized primarily for her portrayal of Missandei, the devoted attendant to Daenerys Targaryen on HBO's Game of Thrones. Her entry into the entertainment industry gained momentum following a summer Vodafone commercial that became a significant early break, which she pursued while employed at a financial institution. Additionally, she took on the role of Nala in the West End staging of The Lion King, performing alongside Pippa Bennett-Warner and Dominique Moore. During her secondary education, Emmanuel attended Westcliff High School for Girls beginning at age twelve. Her family includes a sister named Louise, who competed in the 2002 edition of Stars in Their Eyes Kids and is part of the British girl group Fuzion.
