Olivia Isabel Rodrigo, a multi-talented American musician and performer, entered the world on February 20, 2003, at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta, California. Her parents are Jennifer, an educator, and Chris, a therapist. Growing up as an only child in nearby Temecula, Rodrigo was born with partial hearing loss affecting her left ear. She has Filipino heritage through her paternal lineage, with grandparents and great-grandparents who relocated from the Philippines, and she proudly identifies as Filipino American while honoring her family's cultural practices and culinary traditions. Her mother's background includes German and Irish roots. During her formative years, Rodrigo absorbed alternative rock through her parents' musical preferences, including acts like No Doubt, Pearl Jam, the White Stripes, and Green Day. She attended Lisa J. Mails Elementary School in Murrieta and participated in an after-school musical theater program. Beginning vocal training at age five under Jennifer Dustman's instruction, she subsequently entered singing competitions and later pursued acting lessons. Piano study commenced at age nine. Her songwriting journey began after discovering Taylor Swift's country compositions, and she had learned guitar by age twelve. Her entertainment career launched in May 2010 at age seven with an Old Navy television spot. Rodrigo gained widespread recognition through her roles in the Disney Channel show Bizaardvark from 2016 to 2019 and the Disney+ series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series spanning 2019 to 2022.
