Sobre Phyllis Davis
Phyllis Ann Davis was an American actress renowned primarily for her television work. She gained fame for her role as Beatrice Travis, the office manager and devoted assistant to the lead character, Dan Tanna, played by Robert Urich, in the dramatic detective series Vega$, which aired from 1978 to 1981. Davis identified Port Arthur, Texas, as her hometown. She spent her childhood living above her parents' mortuary, where she and her siblings had to maintain silence during funeral services held below. After graduating from Nederland High School in 1958, Davis enrolled at Lamar University. Prior to pursuing acting, she worked as a secretary and as a flight attendant for Continental Airlines, before relocating to Los Angeles in 1965. There, she studied acting at the Pasadena Playhouse.
Davis's filmography includes several feature films, such as The Big Bounce (1969), Russ Meyer's Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970), Sweet Sugar (1972), Terminal Island (1973), The Day of the Dolphin (1973), The Choirboys (1977), The Wild Women of Chastity Gulch (1982), and Guns (1990). In 1975, she portrayed Scarlett O'Hara, a character made famous by Vivien Leigh in the classic film Gone With the Wind, in the musical Train Ride to Hollywood, which starred the R&B group Bloodstone. Davis described the film as “all a dream sequence,” since it revolves around Bloodstone's lead singer, Harry Williams, who, after suffering a head injury, dreams of his band traveling on a train to Los Angeles alongside iconic figures from Hollywood's Golden Age. "I played Scarlett O'Hara and had a ball," she recounted.
Davis also took on guest roles in a variety of prime-time television series, including Love, American Style from 1969 to 1974, and she appeared in Knight Rider as the antagonist Tanya Walker in the pilot episode, "Knight of the Phoenix." Other notable appearances included guest spots on Magnum, P.I., The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, and The Wild Wild West. She was featured in an episode of Adam-12 titled "You Blew It" in 1969 and occasionally served as a panelist on Match Game. During her time on ABC's Vega$, she also participated in a special edition of Battle of the Network Stars.
