Kelly Rae Jackson, professionally known as Racquel Darrian, was born on July 21, 1968, in Hutchinson, Kansas. Her family relocated to California when she was seven years old. She has Irish, Italian, and Native American heritage. During her high school years, she was a well-liked student who achieved homecoming queen status as a senior.

Darrian began her career in adult entertainment during the late 1980s, initially appearing in magazines and low-budget lesbian-themed productions before transitioning to mainstream adult films. Her first film was released in 1989, and she went on to appear in approximately one hundred productions over the course of her career. She signed an exclusive contract with Vivid Video in 1992 and starred in a significant portion of her work between 1989 and 1993, after which her output decreased considerably.

She worked extensively with performer Derrick Lane, whom she married in 1994 but divorced in 2000. Before her involvement in heterosexual scenes, she performed exclusively in all-girl productions and consistently appeared on box covers. She was featured as Penthouse Pet of the Month in October 1990 and appeared in Playboy's 1996 Strippers pictorial. Additionally, she had a regular column in Velvet magazine between 1990 and 2002, featuring reader correspondence and personal reflections.

Darrian was terminated from her studio contract in 1999, reportedly due to reliability issues related to substance abuse. She later acknowledged that pain medication she took following a 1996 pool injury contributed to addiction problems. Subsequently, she engaged in private escorting work with her then-husband recording and distributing the content.

She received recognition including a 1993 AVN Award for Best Tease Performance and induction into both the AVN Hall of Fame and NightMoves Hall of Fame. She has one daughter, Brooke, born in 1997. Currently, she resides in Las Vegas and continues to work as a feature dancer in clubs across the country.
