Shawnee Smith, born on July 3, 1969, is an American actress and singer renowned for her portrayal of Linda in the CBS sitcom Becker and Amanda Young in the Saw film series. She was also a member of the country rock band Smith & Pyle and took on hosting duties for the first season of the VH1 acting competition Scream Queens. Smith's acting journey began at a young age, making her film debut at just 11 years old in John Huston's adaptation of Annie, where she played one of the orphans. A few years later, she made her stage debut in the play To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday, earning a Drama-League Critics Award for her performance. In the late 1980s, she took on smaller roles until landing her first leading role in the 1988 remake of The Blob, along with a supporting part in Who's Harry Crumb? (1989). Throughout the 1990s, she guest-starred in popular shows like Murder, She Wrote and The X-Files, before securing a significant role in the sitcom Becker, which aired from 1998 to 2004. In 2004, Smith appeared as Amanda in Saw, reprising her role in its sequels, including Saw II (2005), Saw III (2006), and Saw VI (2009). From 2012 to 2014, she portrayed Jennifer Goodson in the series Anger Management, appearing in 100 episodes. Shawnee Smith is set to return as Amanda in Saw X, which is scheduled for release in October 2023.
