About Isabel Sarli
Isabel Sarli, an Argentinian talent who graced both the screen and the runway, first captured national attention as Miss Argentina in 1955. This pivotal moment launched her into a successful career on the international acting stage. Her path crossed with filmmaker Armando Bo in 1956, marking the beginning of a significant artistic collaboration. Sarli quickly became the muse and leading lady for Bo's cinematic endeavors, with her debut in his film El trueno entre las hojas in 1956.
The film's daring nude sequences, a groundbreaking moment for Argentinian cinema, along with the subsequent sexually suggestive features they created, stirred considerable controversy and condemnation within Argentina. Despite facing censorship and societal backlash, Sarli's star continued to ascend internationally. Her talent took her to film sets across Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Mexico, Panama, and Venezuela. Works such as Fuego (1969) and Fiebre (1971) successfully found audiences in both American and European markets. While she demonstrated a flair for comedy in lighthearted sex comedies like La mujer del zapatero (1968), Bo consistently envisioned her in more grounded, dramatic roles.
Following Bo's passing in 1981, Isabel Sarli largely stepped away from the spotlight, making only occasional appearances in films directed by others. As of June 2016, she resided in Martinez, Buenos Aires, Argentina, alongside her adopted daughter, Isabelita.
