Maddalena Crippa — Biography

Maddalena Crippa honed her craft at Milan's Piccolo Teatro, a journey deeply influenced by her extensive collaboration with director Giorgio Strehler. This foundational experience paved the way for a significant artistic and personal connection she would later forge with stage and opera director Peter Stein. Known for her meticulous portrayals of tragic and classical female characters, Crippa dedicated herself to a deep, personal exploration of vocal techniques, aiming to refine her diction and elevate singing as potent tools for expression. Her achievements were recognized in 1994 with a Silver Mask award, followed by the Hystrio Award for Interpretation in 2001. In 1988, Crippa made a notable appearance, posing fully nude for the publication Excelsior.
