She is an American actress and former model who gained fame for her portrayal of Mystique in the original X-Men trilogy from 2000 to 2006. Additionally, she appeared as Joan in The Punisher (2004), which is also derived from Marvel Comics, and showcased her versatility through dual roles as Laure Ash and Lily Watts in the film Femme Fatale (2002). Moreover, she took on the character Una Chin-Riley in both Star Trek: Discovery (2019) and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022–present). Her television credits include a recurring part as Alexis Meade in the series Ugly Betty. Other notable roles include Eve Baird on the TNT show The Librarians, voicing Lois Lane in the DC Animated Movie Universe, and serving as the host for the reality competition series Skin Wars.
